So, we’re now 3 dates into the Ingrid tour and thus far it’s been amazing. The crowds have been really appreciative to our own little brand of indie/pop/hardcore metal and everyone in the crew has been uuber nice and friendly to us. The main lady herself is also an absolute sweetheart. Not only had she learned all our names before we met her, but when we had some technical issues in the first show she runs on stage out of nowhere and bails us out of a few minutes of ‘dead air’ on stage. Needless to say, it was love at first sight.
We’ve been using in-ear monitors on this tour. (For the non-musos in the audience, in-ears are when you use earphones instead of speakers on stage to hear what you’re all playing). It’s pretty much like playing along to an iPod, but instead of jamming in your bedroom back home where nobody can see you it’s in front of a few thousand people. As a result I think my “crazy drummer expression” quota has gone through the roof. (I’m still not in Nova’s league but getting closer). If there’s anyone reading this (apart from Obama and the couple of people that tweeted me) that works for an earphone monitor company and want to give us free ones, we’re all ears. (Yes, the pun is intended).
I’ve just finished the final season of 24. It’s like my life has ended. Where else can I get my dose of Keifer’s almost inaudibly husky voice and Russian bad guys that have infiltrated CTU…again. (You’d think they’d be more careful after it already happened 7 times?!) I started on Scrubs re-runs instead but I know them so well I found myself laughing at the joke before it even happened, which just meant every episode was like one long instance of deja vu. It was quite surreal actually. After much deliberation, soul searching and speaking to fellow members of the band, I have decided to start watching The Wire. We’re going to Baltimore in a few weeks so I think it’s good for me to know what to expect. Right?
The most exciting news so far this week is that I’m getting a new drum kit delivered in June. Ah, who am I kidding, this is the most exciting thing to happen all YEAR!!
